There certainly are big differences in Corona stats between countries. Germany, for instance, has a similar infection curve to the UK and has had far more reported cases but fewer deaths and they have a higher survival count:

They are doing something better than the UK. Maybe they have more ventilators? Looking at the stats for the Netherlands, I see these are not that much better than the UK:
